First time at the pool. We were scared the water would shock him like it does us but, as usual, he was a trooper.... He loved it (we think). He didn't laugh, didn't cry. He just took it all in. He sat back in his little float and chilled out. We went back the second day for the neighborhood Memorial Day party. The same thing again. After being in the pool, he ate and then took a nap.....

Catching up with new pics
new cody pics
Ok, we DEFINATELY need to do a better job and keep up with this site. A lot of time has gone by. He is getting sooooooo big. 18 weeks now. 13lbs 7oz, 24 1/2 inches long last week at his 4 month check up. He is sooo sweet. His personality is really starting to shine. He is quite giggly too. Laughs a lot. Rolls over (when he wants to). He just found his feet yesterday so now he stays curled up in a ball grabbing them while trying to get the diaper on before he springs a leak! He is taking cereal in his bottle mostly but we are also trying to eat it off the spoon. Thats messy! We had quite a scare last week when we found out he is VERY allergic to milk. His reaction was pretty severe. He gets in honestly. Shan and i were both allergic to practically everything we were given especially milk. Oh i just love being a mama. What a great position to hold in life or title to hold....... MOM! I know Shannon feels the same about being a dad. I am speaking for him since he is in Denmark right now. Cody does sleep through the night and has for quite a while. He is wonderful. Thanks to all our friends and family who have been so helpful since day 1.

Mom's first post!!!
Well, this is a couple weeks overdue. I guess i am excused since i have been a little busy being a new mommy.... I just wanted to kinda tell my story of how Codys first day all began.
245am thursday Jan 3rd my water broke in bed of course. Took Shannon a minute to realize what was going. I asked him to get me a towel a couple of times but when i said "get me a towel, my water broke" he jumped to his feet pretty quickly. Now when i say my water broke, i mean i could have helped lake Lanier i am pretty sure.... They asked me at the hospital if i was sure? Now doubt. Anyway, we got everything in the car, well shannon did. I stood in the closet over a couple of towels. We got Sammy (the dog) and took him over to Shans parents house on the way to the hospital. I was not having severe contractions at this point. For some reason i was not nervous. I cannot explain why. I just knew it was time and i was so ready. I had been so miserable for quite a while. Got to the hospital, checked in, went to my room, B2. It was on. Got hooked up to all the monitors. Our parents showed up a little while later. Everyone was in and out during the laboring. Shan was very good about asking people to come and go as i wanted him to. Great room monitor. I did not want an epidural, that was the goal. I stayed at 1cm for, well for 3 wks. After no change for a few hours in the hospital they started Pitocin. For those of you who do not know, this drug intensifies your contractions. Boy does it. Over the next few hours i waited until it got too bad to get a dose of pain medicine that was suppose to last one hour and it lasted 45 min. I got one more dose that lasted 30 min. I had finally gone to 4 cm then to 6 on the next check and finally to 9cm........ yes i lasted to 9 cm with no epidural. Shannon was a wonderful coach through all of this. Well, when i could not recover from one contraction before another would come it was time for the epidural. It was perfect. I could move my legs but could not feel the pain. I got to get some rest and then i started feeling a lot of pressure. They came in and said are you ready to push and i said are you sure i am ready? It just seemed kind of sureal. i said lets do it. I had Shannon, my mom and my sister in there for the delivery. I pushed for 22 min and he was here. On my chest. Shannon was worried the whole pregnancy that he would pass out. I had more faith in him than he did. I knew he would be fine. He watched him come out and loved it. It took both of us until we got home for it to hit us that we were parents. A very emotional time. I did feel like i had delivered a truck the next couple of days. Our parents and Christy and Laura were there for the delivery ,well out in the waiting room. It was great to have them there also. Every one was so supportive. After a couple nights in the hospital, the nurses not letting you sleep more so than Cody we finally got to come home. My mom was here for the week. Very helpful. Our parents had our house clean when we got home. We did not sleep at all the first two nights until we could go to the pediatrician. we were just worried about some things and needed to be reassured. We are much better now. Kristin Kennedy has been great letting me call her for some questions, mostly about breast feeding which i have had a little trouble with but is getting better now. That is some of my story. I hope every one will keep checking on Cody through this site. We also have to better about keeping it up to date with pictures and posts. You can also get in touch with us through the site. There is a link to our email addresses i believe. Until next time. Take care.... april
